Demonstration of strength, 38 Chinese warplanes flying over the Taiwan border

Taiwan has said that 38 Chinese warplanes have flown out of its defensive zone.

According to the French news agency AFP, the warplanes passed through the defense zone of Taiwan on the occasion of the National Day of the People's Republic of China.

The demonstration took place near the island of Taiwan, where a democratic system of government is in place, but China claims the area as part of it.

The incident comes as China this week accused Britain of sending its warships into Taiwan's waters with "bad intentions".

Taiwan's Defense Ministry said its plane issued a warning when 22 Chinese fighters, two bombers and a submarine-capable aircraft entered the defense zone in the southwest.

According to the Ministry of Defense, 13 more Chinese warplanes later flew over the area.

This area is not called Taiwan's airspace, but a defense zone that covers a large area, including China's defense zone.

The Chinese government has repeatedly announced that it will annex Taiwan.

China's policy toward Taiwan has intensified since 2016, thanks to President Xi Jinping, who says Taiwan is already "sovereign."

Last year, Chinese warships violated Taiwan's defense zone 380 times, up from 500 in the first nine months of this year.
