pakistan : Decision to set up software parks in eight cities of Pakistan

The decision to set up software parks in eight cities of Pakistan was taken by the federal government of Pakistan to immediately increase its IT products and their exports to Quetta, Gwadar, Faisalabad, Bannu, Swat, Mardan, Sukkur, and Hyderabad. Many cities have decided to create new 'software parks'.

Federal Minister for Information Technology Syed Aminul Haq in an exclusive interview with Urdu News said that 25 new 'Software Technology Parks' will be set up in Pakistan in the next two years while these parks in eight cities will be completed this year.  There are currently a total of 15 software technology parks in Pakistan, including three in Islamabad, two in Rawalpindi, eight in Lahore, one in Karachi, and one in Gilgit. With the completion of 25 new parks, the number will increase to 40 in the next two years.

According to the statistics, Pakistan has earned 1Billion billion more in the last financial year with an increase of 23% in IT exports.

Satisfied with this increase, the Federal Ministry of Information Technology has set a target of  5 Billion billion for IT exports in 2023.

Achieving this goal and the success of software parks, attractive incentives have been announced, including ten-year rebates on many other taxes, including income tax, property tax, general sales tax, customs, and profits.

Syed Amin-ul-Haq said that more than 100 IT companies are working in the 15 software parks that have been activated so far and 10,000 people are directly connected with them.
